This is the third of four of our Mile High Report roundtable discussions. For the first installment, we discussed what Denver Broncos players needed step their game up on Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. With our second installment, we discussed our biggest concerns heading into the Divisional Round gridiron matchup.
For my third question, I wanted to be more optimistic. That’s why asked the staff: “What gives you confidence the Broncos can defeat the Bills?”
Tim Lynch
They’ve done it all year long.
The Broncos are battle-tested for win or go home football after leading the NFL in one score games and a 14-3 record. Time to go get it.
Ross Allen
A few things. It’s a mix of Buffalo coming into this game battered, Sean Payton and Co. getting an extra week to prepare for this one, and the long drives the Denver offense has been putting together recently. If during this bye week they figured out how to get touchdowns instead of field goals, then the Broncos should have no problem putting up points on Saturday.
Adam Malnati
The defense. They’ve been the key all season and that won’t change against the Bills.

The coaching staff is what gives me all the confidence in the world about this team. The players ultimately need to make plays, but this coaching staff is the key to their success. This team will be ready for any adversity the Bills cause and will have a plan on how to handle it because of Sean Payton, Vance Joseph, and Joe Lombardi.
Christopher Hart
I agree with a lot of what was said above. Everyone made some really good points. I’ll keep it honest and side with Adam that the defense gives me the most confidence Denver can win this weekend. Truth be told, the Broncos would have not been as good as their record shows without Vance Joseph and the defense carrying the team for a good portion of the season. That’s just the reality.
It’s almost impossible to stop Josh Allen. Like Joseph said earlier this week, he can wreck your dreams and single-handedly has the ability to take over games. I feel they can do more than enough to limit his impact on the game and give Bo Nix and the offense a chance to capitalize on shorter fields.
It’s quite serendipitous, but I truly feel this team has a lot of parallels to the 2015 squad that wound up securing the franchise’s third Lombardi Trophy by winning Super Bowl 50 over the Carolina Panthers. If Denver’s defense can bring their A-game on Saturday, they are going to have a tremendous shot at getting the privilege to host the AFC Championship game and be a win away from punching their ticket to Super Bowl 60.
How about you, Broncos Country? What are some reasons and things that give you confidence the Broncos can take care of business and defeat the Bills on Saturday? Let us know in the comments section!
