MLB Trade Rumors | Mark Polishuk: While it’s not the kind of staff change that a lot of people probably want, the Yankees reportedly did make one personnel move on Sunday. Desi Druschel is reportedly set to return to the Yankees, joining the team as an assistant pitching coach. Druschel spent time in a similar role from 2022-24, but spent last year as an assistant pitching coach across town with the Mets. Since their pitching coach, Jeremy Hefner, was dismissed, his assistants were granted permission
to seek other jobs. Further reports say that either he or fellow assistant pitching coach Preston Claiborne will serve as the bullpen coach after the departure of Mike Harkey.
New York Post | Will Zimmerman: Sunday was the 25th anniversary of the Yankees’ clinching the 2000 World Series with a Game 5 victory over the Mets. We ourselves here at Pinstripe Alley have gotten in on the remembrance game, but here is a look back at the “Subway Series” by some of those who played in and lived it. ($)
New York Post | Greg Joyce: The Yankees do have some former player representation in this year’s World Series, including catcher Ben Rortvedt on the Dodgers’ roster. It was a bit of a whirlwind for Rortvedt, as injuries led him onto LA’s roster, and a prominent role as Will Smith was limited early in the Dodgers’ postseason run. As for Rortvedt, he gives a bit of credit to his Yankee run for helping his development, especially working with Gerrit Cole during much of his Cy Young Award-winning 2023 season.
