Barcelona are set to play their first home La Liga game of the season against Valencia at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday and also expect to face Getafe at the same venue in their next home fixture.
According to Diario Sport, the current thinking is that the Getafe match will also take place at the 6,000 seater stadium but that may be the last time it’s used by the first team.
The report claims that
Barcelona are hoping they can host Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou on September 28th in a game which will also serve as a test for UEFA.
Barcelona then hope their next home game – against PSG in the Champions League on October 1st – can also go ahead at the Camp Nou without any problems.
PSG are said to have “pushed hard” for the game to be played at Camp Nou, while Barcelona and UEFA also want the game to take place at the club’s famous home.
Meanwhile, Barca are yet to offer any updates past this weekend’s Valencia match.
Vice-president Elena Fort has said the club “can’t guarantee” they will be back for the Getafe fixture and it now looks like the Real Sociedad match is a more realistic option.
