What is the story about?
Good
morning everyone! It’s time to take on the Astros. Who’s ready?
While we wait for game time, here’s everything you need to know.
In Mariners news…
- The Mariners are fired up and ready to go as they enter the most important series of their season so far.
Around the league…
- Future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw announced that he is retiring from baseball at the end of the season.
- Justin Verlander, who is five years Kershaw’s senior, says he wants to continue pitching in 2026.
- Major League Baseball is instituting a down period for a portion of the offseason, during which team officials are not permitted to have contact with amateur players to gather data or other development-related information. The aim of this rule is to encourage high school and college players to rest, which could decrease the incidence of injury.
- The Tigers have activated right-hander Paul Sewald from the 60-day injured list. Sewald was acquired in a July deal with the Guardians but hasn’t yet appeared in a game for Detroit.
- I suppose this is better than former Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf claiming he almost exclusively eats candy, but it’s incredible that some of the world’s best athletes can get by like this.
