Bayern Munich have another reason to be excited about the future, with Lennart Karl ranked as the most valuable under-18 player in world football according to Transfermarkt (via @iMiaSanMia).
The FC Bayern attacking talent tops the list with an estimated market value of €60 million, putting him ahead of Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman and Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha, who are both valued at €50 million. Karl is listed at 18 years old, underlining just how quickly his stock has risen.
For Bayern, this
is another encouraging sign that their investment in young talent is paying off. Karl has already generated plenty of excitement with his performances, and his emergence gives the club another exciting attacking option for both the present and the future. With Vincent Kompany willing to trust young players, Karl has a genuine opportunity to turn his potential into a permanent place in the first team.
The competition is hardly short of talent, either. Paris Saint-Germain’s Ibrahim Mbaye and Arsenal’s Max Dowman are among the highly rated youngsters on the list, while Borussia Dortmund prospect Konstantinos Karetsas sits sixth with a €35 million valuation.
Still, Karl occupies the top spot, which is no small achievement in a generation packed with promising young footballers.
Of course, market value is not the same as proven quality, and Bayern supporters will want to see Karl continue developing rather than get carried away by a Transfermarkt figure. However, the €60 million valuation reflects the enormous potential people see in him.
The big question now is how far Karl can go. If he continues on his current trajectory, Bayern Munich could have another homegrown star on their hands. The hype is growing, the valuation is climbing, and FC Bayern fans have every reason to be excited about what comes next.
