The sixth-seeded Buffalo Bills rallied past the third-seeded Jacksonville Jaguars in a Wild Card thriller, prevailing 27-24 for the franchise’s first road playoff win in 33 years, and the first road playoff victory
in the Josh Allen/Sean McDermott tenure in Western New York.
Before we fully turn our attention to Buffalo’s AFC Divisional round clash with the top-seeded Denver Broncos Saturday afternoon, today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off with final thoughts and observations on Buffalo’s Wild Card triumph in Jacksonville.
Josh Allen is Superman, Tre’ White once again playing at a high level
Linked below: Examining Josh Allen’s latest Superman performance, as the reigning NFL MVP put the Bills on his back. Time after time, Allen’s grit and toughness was front and center as Allen completed 80% of his passes while not turning the ball over, found tight end Dalton Kincaid for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, made a clutch throw to wide receiver Brandin Cooks with a blitzer bearing down on him that set up the game-clinching touchdown, and added two rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 1:03 remaining in the contest.
Plus, analyzing head coach Sean McDermott’s decision to take the touchdown and not try to kill the clock on that game-winning score; dissecting how veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White is back to playing some of the best football of his career in his first season back in Buffalo; how offensive coordinator Joe Brady made halftime adjustments with the Jaguars bottling up James Cook III and the rushing attack; how linebacker Shaq Thompson delivered two of the biggest plays that helped the Bills pick up the win; crediting edge rusher Greg Rousseau for applying consistent pressure on quarterback Trevor Lawrence; and more!

Bills get good news on Ed Oliver’s potential return
While the Bills have a laundry list of injured players heading into Saturday’s AFC Divisional round clash with the Denver Broncos, head coach Sean McDermott provided some good news, stating that the team is opening the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle Ed Oliver and wide receiver Curtis Samuel. Both Oliver and Samuel remain on the Injured Reserve list, but they can return to practice and could potentially return to action when the Bills face the Broncos.
