Fans in the Mile High City hoping for last-minute ticket deals hit a Rocky Mountain low at Ticketmaster.
WWE SmackDown rolled into Denver’s Ball Arena on Friday. Fewer than 400 tickets were available 90
minutes before showtime, according to ticket tracker WrestleTix, but fans waiting for a late price drop were mostly out of luck.
Prices for standard admission and verified resale seats stayed steady after SmackDown started. Front-row seats in Section AAA, which were unavailable early Friday, were listed at $489.20 on Ticketmaster at 5 p.m. MT, an hour before the show. Prices still hadn’t budged 40 minutes into the event.
Additionally, verified resale seats in Section CCC, Row 5, stayed firm at $600.37. Loge and terrace prices also held steady.
In light of WWE’s rising ticket prices, fans online have recommended waiting to buy tickets the day of an event and as close to bell time as possible. Tickets for John Cena’s final Raw in his hometown of Boston previously saw dramatic price drops before the show went live.
While such deals were nearly non-existent in Denver, there was a glimmer of hope. About 15 minutes after SmackDown began, ringside seats in Section FFF, Row 2 plummeted from $489.20 to $135.95, a rare bargain for the most patient fans.
Other savings were also available. WrestleTix reported that the cheapest standard admission ticket had dropped from $73.65 to $60.25. Those prices also held steady through showtime.
As fans figure out how to get the best deal, Friday showed that waiting until the last minute — and beyond — is a gamble that may or may not pay off.
