Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has made it abundantly clear that the club never took the summer reports linking Michael Olise with Real Madrid particularly seriously.
Asked how Bayern Munich followed the constant speculation surrounding their French winger, Dreesen admitted that the reporting could be amusing at times, but also frustrating.
“As someone in charge who also knows the inside story, you sometimes can’t help but be amused, and at other times irritated by what gets written. We have
always said: It’s nonsense. It was nonsense back then, and it still is nonsense,” Dreesen said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Olise himself never felt the need to publicly address the rumors, and Dreesen believes that was the right approach. Rather than getting involved in speculation away from the pitch, Olise has allowed his performances to do the talking.
“Firstly, Michael speaks the decisive language on the pitch. Secondly it’s good that he’s not letting the fuss surrounding him bother him. I’m not even sure he reads all of that or hears about it,” Dreese said.
Dreesen also confirmed that Bayern Munich are not currently negotiating a new contract with Olise. With the 23-year-old already tied down until 2029, there is simply no urgency from the club’s perspective.
“No, we are not currently holding any talks. If I remember correctly, Michael still has a contract until 2029. So there’s no reason to be hasty or rush anything now,”stated the CEO.
As far as Olise goes, his behavior has been at least a little odd, but he is always at least a little odd. The Frenchman’s reactions and actions always keep fans guessing if he is really that aloof or if it is all just an act forthe public. Either way, no one will care how bizarre he might come across if he continues to display the kind of excellence he has on the pitch on a regular basis.
