Woltemade says he’ll embrace the pressure, can’t help what NUFC paid for him (Chronical Live)
Former Bayern Munich transfer target Nick Woltemade has been catching strays since he left VfB Stuttgart for Newcastle United.
First, Bayern Munich supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß slammed Woltemade’s move:
“He (Woltemade) isn’t worth the 90 million. That only happened because of the money flowing from Saudi Arabia.”
Then, former Germany international Mario Basler also put Woltemade on blast:
“Uli Hoeness said it correctly. Woltemade isn’t worth £69m million. And he’ll have big problems in Newcastle.
I don’t think Woltemade will prevail in Newcastle. In my opinion, this move was the wrong one for Woltemade.”
For his part, Woltemade just wants to play and says he will embrace the challenge ahead of him.
“In football, there is always pressure. In the matches I played in Germany, there was also pressure, but I like pressure. I didn’t make my price, so I can’t do anything about it. I just want to play football, and what the clubs pay is not my decision,” Woltemade said. “But I am really happy that the club trusted me so much that they paid so much money. This club gives me a good feeling.”

Before Bayern Munich made a loan deal with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson, the Germans made an inquiry on Olympique Marseille attacker Amine Gouiri:
Before signing Nicolas Jackson on deadline day, Marseille forward Amine Gouiri (25) was one of the players Bayern enquired about, but the Algerian international was keen to stay at the French club where he feels comfortable. Palhinha chasing Bissouma out? (EPL Index)
Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha might be chasing Yves Bissouma away from Tottenham Hotspur:
Yves Bissouma’s Tottenham career is nearing its conclusion after a difficult start under Thomas Frank. The midfielder, signed for £25 million from Brighton in 2022, has slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Joao Palhinha, who was immediately installed as a starter in Spurs’ midfield.
Frank’s decision to leave Bissouma out of the UEFA Super Cup squad last month was telling. Since then, the Mali international has not featured for Tottenham this season. Football Insider reports that Spurs could yet sanction a late move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey before those windows close, with a loan deal also being considered to ease the wage bill.
Dreesen thinks squad is in good shape (@iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen think his team is well-equipped for the rigors of this season.
“Our squad is definitely competitive. We complemented the squad with Nicolas Jackson, who has shown in the Premier League what he can do. He’s quick, he’s strong in duels, he will do our team a lot of good. We have a team with top quality. Maybe the squad is not as deep as it used to be in the past, but that gives the chance to young players, that’s what we want and I’m happy for that. We’re on the right track,” said Dreesen.

Müller details what has fueled his career (Säbener51 via @iMiaSanMia)
Former Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller says one thing always pushed him — the love of competition.
“My drive was always competition. And I had that at Bayern, at the highest level and under the greatest possible spotlight in Germany. In the end, it’s all about the endorphins, with the public pressure as a multiplier. 75,000 spectators in the Allianz Arena, 400,000 club members – and around 80 million Germans at the World Cup,” Müller said.
