Adam Schefter is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are placing Tyjae Spears on injured reserve.
For roster purposes, this means the Titans will keep Spears on their initial 53-man roster and then place him on IR. That will free up a roster spot
for the team to claim someone who hits waivers this afternoon. It also means the Titans will likely have four running backs on their initial 53-man roster.
Spears reportedly looked great early in camp before suffering the high-ankle sprain in the first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
If you are still doing fantasy football drafts, you should probably move Tony Pollard up your draft boards a little bit. He’s going to be the bellcow for this offense, at least until Spears returns in week 5. Last year, Pollard had 260 carries for 1,079 yards and 5 touchdowns. That was behind a terrible offensive line. Pollard also had 41 catches for 238 yards.
Through his first two years in the league, Spears has 184 carries for 765 yards and 6 touchdowns.
