The latest offseason development is yet another underwhelming one, as after news came out that the Yankees are reportedly pivoting away from Cody Bellinger and were checking in on Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette, the very next day poured water on those two as well saying that the Yankees were not involved with either of them. Great. At this point, who can say what the Yankees’ big offseason move will be, or whether there will be one at all, but if push came to shove I’d rather they accept an overpay
to get somebody good to finish up the lineup rather than get nobody and go into camp with a bunch of question marks. As the saying goes, if you’re not willing to overpay for anybody, you’ll end up third for everybody.
Alas, I am but a humble blogger and don’t have the ear of Brian Cashman and company. Instead, we’ll sit around and wait for news to break eventually, but until then you can tide yourself over with some of the work we prepared today. Andrew starts us off with an announcement for new writers ahead of the 2026 season, followed by Nick reliving the highs and lows of Iván Nova’s Yankee career on his birthday and Peter covering the Moose’s arrival to the Bronx in our most notable free agent signings series.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Do you think the Yankees are out on the top free agents? Do they have a chance at the Tucker/Bichette tier still? Hell, is the the Bellinger pivot a bluff and they’ll still end up bidding on him?
2. Will the Steelers-Texans matchup round off a solid opening weekend to the NFL playoffs, or will we end on a dud?
