Ludwig Kaiser aka El Grande Americano (real name Marcel Barthel) was arrested for battery this week stemming from an incident in late April in Orlando, Florida. The WWE star has plead “not guilty” to allegations that involve attacking a neighbor over their response to his “uncontrollably intimate” behavior in an elevator with an unidentified woman.
Kaiser is on the verge of competing in the biggest match of his pro wrestling career on May 30 in Monterrey, Mexico, at AAA Lucha Libre’s Noche de los
Grandes. He is scheduled to fight the original El Grande Americano (aka Chad Gable) in a Mask vs. Mask match on that night, which is a huge deal over there. However, following news of Kaiser’s arrest, there is now some uncertainty about whether or not he will be allowed to travel to Mexico for the match.
Speculation about his status will only grow stronger now that AAA has officially canceled his scheduled appearance for tonight (May 21) in Mexico City:
“The ‘Serenata for El Grande Americano’ event scheduled for tonight in Mexico City has been canceled.
We appreciate your understanding.”
We still don’t know what this means for Kaiser’s status for the El Grande Americano Mask vs. Mask match on May 30, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we find out more.
