Rafael Louzán, the president of the RFEF, has played down the clash between Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal during El Clasico.
The Real Madrid captain confronted 18-year-old Yamal, his international team-mate,
at the end of the game after being riled by some pre-match banter from the youngster.
Angry scenes followed as both sets of players become involved in a brawl, with Frenkie de Jong critical of Carvajal’s actions in the aftermath
.Louzan has now been quizzed on the events nd says he’s not expecting any more fallout from the incident.
“I’m not one for trouble, I’m a conciliatory person and what we saw in the Clásico was a heated moment in the match, ” he told Cope.
“I think it’s going to stay there and I don’t think it will escalate. I haven’t spoken to Luis de la Fuente about it. They are two players we desperately need and two icons of world football.”
Louzan also insisted all is well between Spain and Barcelona ahead of another international break. There’s been great tension between the two, due to the national team’s recent treatment of Yamal, but the RFEF is not worried.
“We are very calm because there is a continuous, direct relationship with the clubs. We take great care of that. We are aware that the players belong to their clubs,” he added.
“We are calm; we have very important challenges ahead.”
Spain will be without Pedri for the next international break, after he became the latest player to pick up an injury, while it remains to be seen if Yamal will be called up due to his ongoing pubalgia struggles.
