On Wednesday morning, the Houston Texans named five players as permanent captains for the 2025 regular season. Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the five captains are quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receiver Nico Colins on offense, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and edge rusher Will Anderson on defense, and running back Dare Ogunbowale on special teams.
Of the five, Stroud, Anderson, and Al-Shaair are returning captains while Anderson and Ogunbowale are first-timers this season.
Compared to the 2024 season, the Texans named two less players as captains compared to the seven they had a year ago. At the time, left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Stefon Diggs were amongst them, but now both find themselves elsewhere (Commanders and Patriots, respectively) for 2025. Long snapper Jon Weeks was the team’s special teams captain last season, but he is now a member of the 49ers.
Join us in congratulating these deserving players on earning such a high honor!
