Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has been suspended two games after an altercation with a fan during Pittsburgh’s 29-24 win over the Detroit Lions. Metcalf is appealing the suspension in hopes that it will be reduced to one game.
In the meantime, though, this opens the door for the Steelers to bring in another veteran receiver who spent time with Aaron Rodgers in both Green Bay and New York. Allen Lazard was recently let go by the Jets upon his request. Considering how well the offense
has played since they went the route of playing veterans Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, perhaps the Steelers go out and get Lazard for the remainder of the season.
Lazard put up good numbers with Rodgers in Green Bay. From 2019-22, Lazard caught 168 passes for 2,229 yards and 20 touchdowns. Last season when both were with the Jets, Lazard caught 37 passes and six touchdowns.
While he may not be a massive superstar name, you aren’t finding one of those on the couch in Week 17. Bringing in another receiver that Rodgers has chemistry with, as well as a proven track record of success, makes sense as the Steelers are chasing a playoff berth and a hopeful deep run in January.
