Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung and pitcher Nathan Eovaldi have been activated from the injured list, the team announced today. To make room for them on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Adam Macko and DH/catcher Logan O’Hoppe to AAA Round Rock.
Jung had been in the midst of his best season prior to going on the injured list in mid-July, slashing .294/.361/.441. Jung originally was thought to potentially miss just a day or two with a calf issue that ended up sidelining him
almost two months. He has been on a rehab assignment with AAA Round Rock, and played third base each of the last two games.
Eovaldi last pitched on August 7, throwing 5.1 innings of one pitch ball against the Orioles. He went on the injured list after that with an elbow issue. He has not gone on a rehab assignment, and it remains to be seen what his role will be now that he is activated, although it would seem likely he will be used out of the bullpen initially.
