The only thing worse than getting knocked out by Anthony Joshua is not fighting him at all.
Not when you consider the hype behind Jake Paul’s return to Netflix, which already faced one previous cancellation
(allegedly because of this). Now a troubling new rumor has emerged that suggests Paul may be injured and unable to compete on Dec. 19 in Miami.
Former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne spills the tea:
“I’ve just heard somewhere that he was injured, that it’s not happening,” Stiverne told GambleOnline.ca. ”I don’t know. I just heard not long ago it was cancelled. I don’t know what’s going on. Lawrence Okolie gave him a black eye or something and from what I heard the fight is not happening after sparring sessions. It might be a lie, or it might be true, but I don’t know. That’s what I was hearing and it wouldn’t surprise me.“
It should be noted that Stiverne made these comments earlier today (Weds., Dec. 10), long after Paul’s mysterious “update” on the Joshua fight.
“If I was his advisor, I wouldn’t take that fight,” Stiverne added. “I mean business-wise it makes sense — the numbers are great and everything. But yeah, if I was his brother [Logan Paul], I would not say to him to not take that fight as I’d prefer to see him win. Somebody sent me the face-to-face. You could tell. Anthony’s language showed he was not scared or whatever. In my point of view, this is going to be a disaster.”
