Injuries are quickly becoming a problem, and the Eagles could be without more than a handful of offensive starters for their Week 5 game in London. One player they might not have with them is running back Saquon Barkley, who is reportedly week-to-week with a hamstring injury he sustained on the first drive against the Rams.
It could have been worse for Barkley, and for the Eagles, and thankfully it doesn’t look to be a longterm injury. Still, the team placed RB Tank Bigsby on IR earlier in the day, leaving Will Shipley as the only running back on the active roster. The team does have three backs on the practice squad, Jaydon Blue, Dameon Pierce, and Carson Steele, but for an offense that’s already struggling to find their footing, having to rely on the guys so deep on the roster is less than ideal.
Maybe being forced to do things differently will help head coach Nick Sirianni and OC Sean Mannion find a spark they’ve so badly missed through four games this season. And hopefully Barkley is back sooner rather than later to help establish the ground game.
