In all of the news yesterday, I missed this tweet from Terry McCormick:
Now, that tweet is a little convoluted. Does that mean that the Tennessee Titans are in on Trey Hendrickson, or that Hendrickson is in on the Titans? The Titans have a ton of available money, so it makes perfect sense that Hendrickson would
be in on the Titans.
The Titans could certainly use Hendrickson. They have a desperate need for a pass rusher, and he is the best player available on the market. He had back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons in 2023 and 2024 for a terrible Bengals’ defense. He had a down year last year after suffering a core muscle injury that forced him to have season-ending surgery.
It sounds like the reason that Hendrickson hasn’t signed yet is that he is holding out for a huge payday:
$10 million is a pretty big gap. Hendrickson will turn 32 during the 2026 season. Coming off the injury he suffered last season, he might be forced to take a deal with less money than he is expecting. If the Titans could get him on a shorter-term deal with most of the money being paid in the first couple of years, I would be on board.
Should the Titans sign Hendrickson? If so, what are the parameters of the contract you would be willing to offer him?
