If you were watching her last big NXT feud earlier this year, you might be under the impression that Sol Ruca’s already been a pro wrestling villain. The WWE Performance Center crowd in Orlando, Florida and many online sided with Zaria in the long-teased program between former partners, after which Ruca was off to Raw and an Intercontinental championship run.
Even as she was being jeered on The CW though, the powers-that-be at WWE never wavered in their belief that the good vibes California girl character
was the hero of that story. Ruca’s remained the babyface she’s been ever since debuting for the company four years ago, and sounds like she’s been told she’ll be playing to the crowd and popping them with Sol Snatchers for her entire career.
Appearing on The Finish, the 27-year-old was asked if there’s “a world where Sol turns heel and evolves her character in that way:
“I have no idea — I think I would love to be able to try that. I have been told in the past that I most likely will not be heel ever, because of just how I am naturally. I am quite a bubbly and like, light person, so I don’t know.
“I feel like it’s gonna take a very special person to really get that side out of me, but I guess we’re just gonna have to wait and see.”
It is a never say never business, and even John Cena turned eventually. I actually don’t think we’ll have to wait too long to officially see Ruca break bad. Creative has to have been intrigued by the reaction she was getting at the PC, and I’m sure she could lean into that and turn up the “haughty b**ch” elements of her performance.
What say you, Cagesiders?
