Woltemade transfer not a certainty for 2026 (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich’s inability to secure a transfer for VfB Stuttgart attacker Nick Woltemade this summer, does not necessarily mean that the 23-year-old is a shoo-in to join the club next summer:
Nick Woltemade will hold out until the very last second of Deadline Day for a move to FC Bayern. But if that doesn’t happen, a move to Munich in summer 2026 is by no means guaranteed. The player will reassess all his options, including a potential move abroad after the World Cup. Woltemade currently has no intention
of signing an extension in Stuttgart.
This was always the danger in just not going out and getting Woltemade this summer. Regardless how fans rate Woltemade (pro or con), Bayern Munich seems to believe that he is the best player to succeed Harry Kane — making the reluctance to get him now more baffling.
Højlund getting close with Napoli? (ESPN)
Out-of-favor Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund has reportedly been offered to Bayern Munich multiple times, but could actually be getting close to a deal to join Napoli:
Positive talks have taken place between Napoli and the representatives of Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, according to Fabrizio Romano. Earlier this week, it was reported that Napoli were prioritizing a move for the Denmark international, and progress now appears to have been made. The Serie A champions are “advancing in talks” with Højlund, with Man United “ready to get a deal done” if personal terms are finalized. United brought in RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko last week, meaning 22-year-old Højlund is now surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Bayern Munich 6-0 RB Leipzig (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig locked horns for what was anticipated as a clash of titans to raise the curtain for the forthcoming Bundesliga season, but what followed was a massacre of Biblical proportions. Bayern had looked shaky in their last few outings, and Leipzig had a lot to prove after some big changes in the team, which meant that both teams, while possessing some massive talents, had chips on their shoulders and something to strive towards.
Helping us dissect the corpse left in Bayern’s wake is Rayyan (Cyler), returning to the pod after a lengthy hiatus to perform some semblance of autopsy, although it seems this game was far more about the pure joy of watching what happened than picking apart the details of what actually did happen. In this edition, we feature:
- A run-down of the starting XI and shape of both teams.
- The series of events that led to the defining moments of the game, and patterns from before that re-emerged.
- Some final (giddy) thoughts of what this Bayern team could look like going forward.
- A lot, a lot, a lot, of uncontrollable giddy giggling at the mere thought of this match’s existence (sorry).
Sancho just wants out of United (ESPN)
Jadon Sancho’s star has fallen quite a bit since leaving Borussia Dortmund back in 2021. Now, the Englishman seems to just want out of Manchester United…no matter where it takes him:
Jadon Sancho is “confident” of securing a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Besiktas and Borussia Dortmund keeping tabs on the situation, according to Sky Sports. Roma are now said to have moved on to alternative targets, having previously held talks with the England international. BVB are one of several clubs that wish to be “kept updated” about his situation at Man United. Sancho, 25, has enjoyed two previous spells at Dortmund, most recently on loan in 2024, where he helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final.
Bayern out on Jackson (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Despite reports to the contrary, Max Eberl nipped any thought that Bayern Munich has interest in Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson in the bud.
✅ Max Eberl, Head of Sport FC Bayern: „Nicolas Jackson is no topic for us“ @ChelseaFC

Leipzig still chasing Elliott (ESPN)
RB Leipzig is still attempting to bring in Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott:
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is RB Leipzig’s top option to replace midfielder Xavi Simons, says Florian Plettenberg, with the Netherlands international being set to join Chelsea for around €60m after the Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich. Leipzig have already agreed personal terms with Elliott — who was a standout performer in England’s U21 Euros win this summer — and the Reds would let him leave if they received a suitable offer.
Inter might have changed mind on Pavard (Sempre Inter)
After a summer of trying to sell Benjamin Pavard, Inter Milan might actually want to keep him now:
Inter Milan are reportedly reluctant to sell defender Benjamin Pavard this summer despite a fair bit of transfer interest. This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. According to SportMediaset, however, Inter are not very keen to sell Pavard. The Nerazzurri have considered the possibility. However, losing the Frenchman would mean a big hole in their squad in defense. Accordingly, Mediaset predict, Inter are not going to push Pavard out the door.
