Bayern Munich is looking forward to a new year and a transfer window that promises additions to the squad — even without any signings.
That’s because Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Hiroki Itō are all slated to make their returns. Davies has already begun coming off the bench in December and Itō made his first start of the year on Sunday vs. Mainz 05.
“We are very happy with our squad,” sporting director Christoph Freund stated in an early December press conference (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“With Davies, Musiala, and Hiroki Itō, we essentially have three new signings who will greatly improve our squad depth.
“We had to be very cautious with the players in autumn. We are very satisfied with our squad and are looking forward to the three returning players; then we will be very well-equipped.”
Indeed, Bayern can be delighted with the strong first half of the campaign, given how thin the squad was at certain positions, as well as the fact that it came with no significant further injuries. The return of key players should set up an even stronger finish.
