I guess the Cleveland Browns and HC Kevin Stefanski’s detailed plan for QB Shedeur Sanders worked in 2025. While Stefanski and the Browns hoped that Sanders would sit all season behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and/or Dillon Gabriel, that didn’t happen. Instead, poor play, two trades, and an injury led to Sanders playing in eight games, including seven starts.
During that time, Cleveland’s record was 3-4 with Sanders starting at quarterback, completing 57% of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns,
and 10 interceptions.
Few believe that Sanders did enough to solidify his position as the Browns starter moving forward, but the NFL will reportedly name him a Pro Bowler soon:
Initially, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, and Drake Maye were named to the Pro Bowl at the quarterback position. Maye will be starting at quarterback in the Super Bowl.
Only 10 quarterbacks threw more interceptions than Sanders, with all of them playing in more contests. Sanders and Gabriel tied for the lowest number of touchdowns for quarterbacks who played in six or more games. Only Jameis Winston had a lower completion percentage than Sanders last season.
All of that is why many are shocked that he is likely to get this Pro Bowl nod:
On the other hand, the options were quite limited in the AFC:
For now, much like Tyler Huntley, a quarterback who didn’t have the season he or the team wanted, now has a Pro Bowl nod on his resume. Perhaps that experience and a new head coach will be a building block for Sanders in Cleveland moving forward.
