The Steelers’ defense was banged up heading into the team’s 31-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, and head coach Mike Tomlin told the media postgame that four more defenders are on the injury report.
Per Tomlin, defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk and outside linebacker Alex Highsmith have high ankle sprains. Inside linebacker Patrick Queen (rib injury) and Payton Wilson (“heat-related, fatigue,” per Tomlin) both missed time but later returned to the game.
The injuries to Loudermilk, Highsmith,
Queen, and Wilson were the only four to receive specific updates from Tomlin, although he did mention that players such as cornerback James Pierre who missed some time but were able to return.
Entering Sunday’s matchup, the Steelers were already down three starters on defense: safety DeShon Elliott, cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and defensive lineman Derrick Harmon.
Now 1-1 on the year, the Steelers will have an official injury report later in the week. They next play the New England Patriots on Sunday, Sept. 21.
