The Athletics take the field this afternoon hoping to avoid a sweep by the Boston Red Sox. After being shut out two consecutive nights, we are hoping the A’s bats come to life today at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.
Taking the mound for the A’s is 24-year-old righty Mason Barnett. This will be his third career start, and his record stands at 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in nine innings. The A’s called him up from AAA Las Vegas on August 26th. He’ll go up against fellow rookie, 22-year-old lefty Payton
Tolle. He is 0-1 with a 7.56 ERA in his two career starts.
