Welcome to a new week, folks!
Apologies for the lack of official recap on Saturday, but those 1 PM games can be tricky to cover.
By now, you’re well aware that the Bruins beat the Carolina Hurricanes by a 2-1 score on Saturday, extending their mini winning streak to three games.
While none of us is under the illusion that the Bruins are BACK®, it’s worth noting the vibe shift from just a week ago.
Last Monday, the B’s got pasted by Ottawa, 7-2, in arguably their worst performance of the season; a week
later, they’ve won consecutive games against the Islanders, Sabres, and Hurricanes.
Go figure.
It’s extremely early in the season, but it’ interesting to note just how congested things are in the Atlantic Division: the Canadiens and Red Wings are up top with 18 points apiece, but the bottom three teams (currently the Panthers, the Sabres, and the Lightning) are only five points behind.
Compare that with things out West, where the Pacific-leading Avalanche, for example, are 11 points clear of the last-place Blues.
Anyways, after wasting all of that digital ink discussing standings, I’ll follow that up by saying it’s silly to discuss standings on November 3.
The B’s will practice today ahead of a game tomorrow against the Islanders on SCENIC LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK.
The Isles have won back-to-back games, most recently beating the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night.
Yesterday, the B’s hosted a family event featuring current and former players, including one heck of a goalie tandem:
Of course, this weekend also brought the Bruins Halloween party, and you can catch up on all of this year’s costume highlights in the thread below:
To me, David Pastrnak remains the man to beat, but the holidays are upon us and I might be sporting a pro-Home Alone bias.
Anyways, no game but plenty to discuss — what’s on tap for today?
