It wasn’t a great day for Duke Basketball, either on the men’s or women’s side, where Duke fell to UCLA, 70-58.
Much like UConn, UCLA came back in the second half after a good first half by the Blue Devils.
Duke shot just 23.3% in the second half, and it’s hard to win like that.
UCLA caught up in the third quarter and pulled ahead behind a solid performance by 6-7 Lauren Betts.
Taina Mair led the way for Duke with 21 points. Riley Nelson had 13, Delaney Thomas 12, and Toby Fournier 10. Ashlon Jackson,
who gave Duke the biggest highlight of the season with her buzzer-beater against LSU, did not score.
So that’s the end of the season, obviously, but this team was really special. It had immense character and got back to the Elite Eight for the second consecutive season. Clearly, the program is in good hands.
