Good morning, Broncos Country. On behalf of Mile High Report, I’d like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season filled with family, friends, joy, and happiness as we approach the New Year.
Today, the Denver Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs for their Week 17 gridiron matchup. It’s a must-win game for the Broncos who are vying for their first AFC West title in a decade and the conference’s #1 playoff seed. In order to accomplish
that, they will have to play much better than they did against the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday.
No game in the NFL is easy, but I like Denver’s chances of getting back on track going up against an injured Chiefs squad. It’s a big opportunity for the defense to hit their stride again. After dominating the competition before the bye week and being at the top of most metrics, the Broncos have struggled to be consistent on that side of the ball. That’s one thing I’m hoping to see happen considering Kansas City is fielding their third-string quarterback and will be without several other offensive weapons.
On offense, we have seen impressive flashes from various players throughout the course of the season. It’s a youthful group with a lot of playmakers who can make big plays. However, outside a few games, they’ve failed to be consistent all season long.
Can they take a big step forward and look good rushing and throwing against the Chiefs? Will they have some under-the-radar players make some contributions? How will Alex Forsyth fare starting at center with Luke Wattenberg out? Which one of Bo Nix’s teammates is going to step up and help alleviate some pressure off his shoulders?
Those are just a few storylines and game angles I’m interested to watch transpire tonight. What are some things you are eager to see tonight outside of a victory? Let me know in the comments. And while I’m far too old to be asking for Christmas presents, I did put in a good word with Santa to help the Broncos delivery a victory for Broncos Country this evening. Wouldn’t that be a great gift?
As always, thank you for reading and making us your top source for all things Broncos this past year. Here is today’s slate of articles for Horse Tracks.
