We’ve been looking at rumors concerning the Chicago Bears and general manager Ryan Poles being looking to add to the roster before the trade deadline. After discussing who we do and do not want the team to target, now we’re considering whether or not the front office might have any surprises in store for fans.
Who would shock you the most as a trade target?
Lester Wiltfong: I wouldn’t expect a high-priced player like Vita Vea or Maxx Crosby, so that would be a surprise, but for shock value, trading
for anything besides a defensive lineman would be a shocker.
Bryan Orenchuk: It would shock me if we landed someone like Maxx Crosby. Not only are the Raiders playing well, but he’s a big reason why and is playing at an incredibly high level so he’ll cost way too much IMO.
Erik Duerrwaechter: Maxx Crosby. At this point, the Raiders have made it clear they’re playing for this season as well as their future. However… they’ve also traded him away once already. As a result, no trade discussions can truly be shut down. I just do not think Ryan Poles, who has admitted to calling in on Mad Maxx’s availability, will be comfortable approaching anywhere close to the Raiders’ demands for two first round picks.
Donald Gooch: Jeffrey Simmons. The Titans just re-signed him to a huge contract. And fitting him under the cap this year would require multiple restructures, not to mention at least a 2nd round pick in 2027 (if not more). That said, the Titans are 0-4 and the odds Simmons is still a plus player when the Titans are relevant again seems low. But man – what a move that would be for this Bears team.
Mongo Peanut: I would be most shocked by any offensive addition. The offense looks deep and talented, and I don’t see Poles using future assets for offensive players when they need to be used for reinforcing the defense.
Josh Sunderbruch: I would be shocked to see Chicago pursue another marginal player of the sorts they’ve traded forin the past. I feel like the peripheral tinkering on this roster should really be done at this point, and if Poles is going to make a move, it will be a meaningful one.
So, those are the moves that would surprise us. Let us know in the comments if anything could shock you regarding pending moves from the Beloved.
