On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced a pair of practice squad elevations ahead of Thursday’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
Safety Mike Edwards and offensive tackle Esa Pole will be available for the contest.
Edwards was a member of the team’s 2023 squad. He started five games during his season in Kansas City. He then added starts in all four postseason
games — including Super Bowl LVIII. He returned to Kansas City after spending 2024 with the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his original team.
After being released in Kansas City’s final cuts out of training camp, Edwards has spent all season on the team’s practice squad. The Chiefs are using his first elevation after ruling defensive back Christian Roland-Wallace out for Thursday’s game with a back injury.
Pole signed with Kansas City in April as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State. After being waived in August, the New York Jets claimed him. After being waived again by New York, Pole signed with Kansas City’s practice squad on October 25.
With right guard Trey Smith ruled out for Thursday with ankle and back injuries, Kansas City is changing the eight offensive linemen who will be available against Dallas. Tackle Wanya Morris was a slightly surprising healthy scratch in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts. Pole’s elevation suggests Morris will once again be declared inactive 90 minutes before kickoff.
