
A rookie linebacker has landed among the transactions in Foxborough.
The New England Patriots waived undrafted free agent Cam Riley ahead of the NFL’s roster deadline, as first reported Tuesday by MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
Riley, 23, officially signed with the organization as part of the 2025 class in May. He played 57 snaps on defense to go with 31 snaps on special teams during his preseason push. A fumble recovery arrived in the process.
The 6-foot-4, 228-pound Riley spent four campaigns at Auburn
before transferring to Florida State in 2024. From the Tigers to the Seminoles, he recorded 167 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble during his collegiate run. It spanned 58 games and 11 starts.
Head coach Mike Vrabel’s active roster stood at 76 players prior to Tuesday’s movement. By 4 p.m. ET, clubs around the league will be down to 53.
The formation of practice squads will follow shortly after the claiming period ends Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET.
