Indiana football has improved a bit as a team as the season has gone on. The hiccups from week one against Old Dominion, largely a result of the staff experimenting some to see which concepts work and
which don’t against live competition, are gone for the most part.
The Hoosiers, outside of some lapses against Penn State on Saturday, have been playing great football. Surveyed on which part of the team has improved the most throughout 2025, fans selected the defensive secondary as showing the most progress:
That group had a narrow lead over the Hoosier running backs, with 40% of the vote to 37%. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana’s offensive leader trailed in third but has shown up consistently throughout the season with strong performances in the clutch.
Indiana’s secondary had multiple lapses through the first few games of the season that could largely be attributed to communication breakdowns. The Hoosiers have largely tightened things up in that department.
