The Buffalo Bills opened Week15 with the best-looking injury report we’ve seen since September. Not only are there only seven names on Wednesday’s list, but the only non-participant was absent for a personal reason rather than an actual injury.
While the latest practice was officially listed as a walkthrough, teams complete their injury reports as an estimation of what they would expect should they have held a full practice.
Today’s report indicates
that right tackle Spencer Brown might be correct when he said he expects to play this weekend against the New England Patriots. Brown has been sidelined for the past two weeks while dealing with a shoulder injury he picked up in Houston during the Bills’ Thursday Night Football loss in Week 12.
Linebacker Terrel Bernard is expected to practice. Bernard has been dealing with the repercussions of a dislocated elbow that also happened in Week 12. History shows that players miss an average of 25 days to return to play after an elbow dislocation. Sunday is 25 days, so there’s a possibility that Buffalo’s defensive captain could be active for the AFC East showdown Sunday afternoon.
Also back to practice was defensive end Joey Bosa. He previously suffered a hamstring injury in Buffalo’s Week 13 dismantling of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Initially, head coach Sean McDermott listed Bosa’s injury as week-to-week but added that he hoped it was the one— to two-week variety and not the three— to four-week type of injury. While it’s not a given that Bosa will be on the field chasing quarterback Drake Maye around on Sunday, his progress this week will definitely be worth watching.
The only other player on the active roster with an injury slowing him down at this point is wide receiver Joshua Palmer. While Palmer was listed as limited for Wednesday’s practice, video of the wide receiver arriving at Highmark Stadium on Sunday showed him still significantly hampered. It’s likely that Palmer gets yet another week of rest, but the fact that he’s on the practice field with his teammates now is a big step toward his return. It’s worth noting, as well, that Palmer had been listed with both an ankle and knee injury last week but is now back to just receiving treatment for the ankle sprain he suffered in Atlanta during Week 6.
Another piece of good news hidden in the injury report is that tight end Dalton Kincaid is no longer hampered by the hamstring injury that sidelined him for Weeks 11, 12, and 13. Kincaid came up limping in the Bills’ loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. After three weeks of rest, Kincaid’s status leading up to last week’s game showed that he had re-aggravated a knee injury he suffered in 2024. While that’s still bothering Kincaid, it’s not limiting his play or his practice. Kincaid caught four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown on Sunday and is listed as a full participant in practice as of today.
