New York Giants punter Jamie Gillan apparently injured his left, kicking, knee on the ridiculous play against the New England Patriots in Week 13 where placekicker Younghoe Koo stopped in the middle of his kicking motion on a field goal attempt.
Gillan, who had bobbled the snap slightly, was hung out to dry, forced to run, and swarmed under by 300-pound Patriots defender Jeremiah Pharms Jr.
Gillan did not practice on Thursday, and appears unlikely to be ready to punt on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. The Giants this week signed veteran punter Cameron Johnston to their practice squad as protection for Gillan’s injury.
Edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) was again among a group of players who did not practice. Thibodeaux appears headed for a fourth consecutive missed game.
