Bayern Munich has a long, decorated history of top French players suiting up for the club.
Legends of the sport, such as Franck Ribéry, Bixente Lizarazu, and Willy Sagnol himself, have plied the trade for Bayern, a club that continues attracting elite French players, including current stars Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano. Is it time for the club to sign another talented Frenchman?
Sagnol certainly thinks so.
In an interview with Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Sagnol disclosed that he would
love to see PSG’s young star Warren Zaïre-Emery at Bayern Munich. He revealed, “I’m a huge fan of Warren Zaïre-Emery. He’s exactly the kind of player who fits Bayern’s profile. Zaïre-Emery has an outstanding character, is incredibly hard-working, and has developed exceptionally well as a footballer.”
Okay, now that has Bayern DNA written all over it. The Bayern squad is currently filled with players of great character and drive, such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, and Dayot Upamecano. Another top-notch player who can fill in multiple positions and excel in a deep-lying role in midfield would be PERFECT.
Sagnol continued, “If he ends up spending too much time on the bench at Paris, he may start thinking about leaving the club. That said, he would be very expensive.”
Oh, expensive without a doubt.
However, Bayern’s midfield depth has dropped with Leon Goretzka’s departure and Konrad Laimer’s permanent move to right-back sealed with the signing of Nathaniel Brown. Is it time for Bayern to spend big on one more player to close out the window in style?
Imagine a midfield rotation consisting of Aleksandar Pavlović, Tom Bischof, Joshua Kimmich, and Zaïre-Emery.
Cover me in sugar syrup and sprinkles and call me a doughnut. Because boy oh boy, would that be sweet.
