The San Francisco 49ers hosted five players for a tryout after tight end Jake Tonges and defensive tackle Alfred Collins suffered injuries. The team already added a defensive tackle to the practice squad on Tuesday.
Here are the three tight ends and a pair of defensive tackles the team worked out:
TE Lawrence Cager (6’5”, 220)
TE Tanner Conner (6’3”, 232)
TE Jack Stoll (6’4”, 247)
DT Larry Ogunjobi
DT Daniel Ekuale
Cager, 29, has been in the NFL since 2020, but he hasn’t played a regular-season game
since 2023. He spent his NFL tenure with the Jets and the Giants. His most productive season came in 2022, when he caught 13 passes for 118 yards.
Conner went undrafted in the 2022 draft. He spent his rookie contract with the Dolphins. Last season, Conner caught nine passes for 91 yards with the Dolphins.
Stoll played for the Eagles from 2021 through 2024. He started four games last season with the Saints, catching six passes for 46 yards. During his career, Stoll has 32 starts. At his size and with his experience, Stoll probably has the best shot to make the roster.

Ogunjobi is a name just about everybody should know. He’s been in the NFL since 2017. The 32-year-old most recently played for the Bills in 2025. Ogunjobi, 6’3″, 305 pounds, had five tackles for loss last season. If the 32-year-old has anything left in the tank, the Niners will bring him in.
Ekuale, 6’3″, 300 pounds, is also 32. His experience pales in comparison to Ogunjobi’s. Ekuale started 16 games for the Patriots in 2024. He has not started more than four games in any other season since entering the NFL in 2019. Ekuale was with the Steelers last year.
