What is the story about?
The second round of the DFB-Pokal was concluded last night. There were few major upsets, with Holstein Kiel’s 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg perhaps the most notable. However, the biggest story from the midweek fixtures took place in a tie between two 2. Bundesliga teams. Sixth-placed Darmstadt gave top-of-the-table Schalke an absolute shellacking on their way to a 4-0 victory, exploiting some pretty clumsy defending on Schalke’s part to put the game to bed within an hour. The best part of the story is
that this comes less than a week after Schalke beat Darmstadt 1-0 in the league. Oops!
