Bayern Munich’s squad is quite arguably one of the best in Europe at the moment.
Even so, Bayern’s squad planning never really stops and the proactive thinking is perpetual. Max Eberl, Christoph Freund and Jan-Christian Dreesen always have to be keeping their eyes and ears open to opportunities, regardless of what the current squad is like.
Per information from Bild’s Heiko Niedderer and Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is keeping its eyes open in the transfer market for the left-wing position.
Luis Díaz has been the main starter for Kompany in that position but has been going through a slight dip in form, so much so that Colombia’s manager, Néstor Lorenzo, has given Díaz the international break off to get some much-needed rest.
Nonetheless, Bayern keeping its eyes open for a left winger is still very much operating under the idea that a potential signing would serve as a backup to Díaz. Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, and Olise could all play there, but the club is still open to signing a backup for Díaz.
If the right opportunity was to present itself, Bayern would consider making a move as early as the January transfer window, though there’s not been anything concrete or substantial with any particular player as of yet.
Of course, as we’ve already seen so far this season prior to the international break, there are plenty of “English Weeks” where Kompany will have to make rotations and really use the depth of his squad. Musiala’s recent muscle fiber injury also points to the obvious, and very real, possibility of injuries arising throughout the course of the season, as Bayern’s number 10 now faces 3-4 weeks on the sidelines.
