Double digit leads turn into single digit leads and then to losing the lead. Thankfully, this Nebraska team always has some sort of fight in them. Another 20 point game from Britt Prince, a big 18 point performance
by Jessica Petrie, and quite possibly the biggest three from Callin Hake who had just one point going into the fourth quarter, secure this win for the Huskers. Nebraska moves on to 14-2 on the season and will take on #4 UCLA on Sunday, January 11, in Lincoln. Oh, not to skip by this stat, Britt Prince hit her 700th career point tonight. May I point out, once more, that she’s only a sophomore. Now, let’s get into the recap.
Starting lineups are the same as of late: Nissley, Hake, Prince, Maupin, Petrie
First Quarter
Indiana started the scoring off and Nebraska has had a couple empty possessions, but Jessica Petrie finally gets the Huskers on the board. We’ve got a back and forth game early in the first as Logan Nissley hit a three to take the lead, Indiana scored, Jessica Petrie hit a three, Hoosiers scored again, Eliza Maupin hit a three, Indiana hits a three, Petrie gets a layup to put Nebraska up 13-11. Britt Prince makes it 16-11 as she gets fouled and count the bucket. After an offensive flurry from both teams, it has calmed down a bit and that will lead us to a media timeout with 4:33 left in the first.
Amiah Hargrove puts herself in the scoring column with the inbound layup and Petra Bozan has the post up layup fall and a five point Nebraska lead (20-15). Callin Hake gets called for a blocking foul which is honestly a very rare call with all of the charges she takes. Kennadi Williams introduces herself to the Hoosiers as she drills a three. Nebraska hasn’t scored in over two minutes and that has let Indiana keep it close. The first quarter ends with a Nebraska 23-20 lead.
Nebraska 23 Indiana 20
Eliza Maupin has made back to back layups and it forces Indiana to call an early timeout with 8:13 left. Logan Nissley gets the jumper to fall and then Eliza Maupin gets a big block on the defensive end (29-22 Neb). I have a feeling this quarter’s summary is going to be incredibly short, there is really not much that is happening. Maupin draws the offensive foul and it leads to a Britt Prince layup. Maupin notches another block, but nothing comes of it. Amiah Hargrove has hit her first three of the night and puts Nebraska up 10 (34-24). Hargrove has back to back buckets and she’s up to seven points.
Nebraska has gone on another two minute scoring drought and Indiana has cut a 12 point deficit to just six. Callin Hake has a chance to get points at the line, but she splits the pair. Indiana has been fouling quite a bit the last couple of minutes and Nebraska is in the bonus, Claire Johnson is now at the line to shoot free throws and she goes one for two. The scoring drought for the Huskers has hit four minutes and somehow they still have an eight point lead to end the first half.

Halftime Stats
Amiah Hargrove: 7 points, 4 rebounds
Jessica Petrie: 7 points, 3 rebounds
Eliza Maupin: 7 points, 3 rebounds
Britt Prince: 5 points, 2 assists
Logan Nissley: 5 points, 2 assists
Nebraska is shooting 44.1 percent from the field, including 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. Nebraska is winning the rebounding battle 20-16 and has an 11-4 assist to turnover ratio.
Third Quarter
Britt Prince has an aggressive drive to the hoop and gets fouled, she hits both free throws. Logan Nissley has an entry pass in to Jessica Petrie and she makes good of it with the hook shot off glass. Indiana cuts the double digit lead to single digits, but Eliza Maupin adds two more. Amiah Hargrove grabs two more points on a shoulder shimmy layup (48-39 Neb). We hit a media timeout with 4:33 left in the third.
Indiana has cut the lead to just six after a three point play. Petra Bozan splits the pair of free throws after getting fouled. Nebraska’s defense is seemingly non existent right now and they’re committing stupid fouls. It doesn’t help that on the stops they do get they can’t connect on any of their shots. The Hoosiers have a chance to make it a two point game as Indiana has a chance at the three point play (49-47 Neb). A media timeout with 2:23 left in the third.
Indiana takes their first lead since the first quarter on a three and gets fouled on it, Nebraska is back on a scoring drought of over three minutes. Britt Prince ties it back up with a blow by layup. an Indiana foul sends Logan Nissley to the line and she makes good on both, putting the Huskers up two. Nebraska can’t get two last second shots to fall and we’ll go to the fourth tied at 53.

Fourth Quarter
Jessica Petrie gets Nebraska the two point lead back and Eliza Maupin gets the block on the other end, but the Huskers don’t have anything to show for it. Petrie has her layup fall, Indiana ties it back up with one of their own and the Hoosiers call an early timeout with 8:23 left in the fourth. Nebraska is choosing the worst time to start turning the ball over and committing fouls, Indiana has a two point lead. I also don’t think Nebraska has hit a three this half, which is not a good thing. Quite literally as I typed that out, Britt Prince hits a three and that is her 700th career point. Prince gets fouled on the next possession and heads to the line, she drains both (62-61 Neb). THREE BY NISSLEY! She gives Nebraska the two point lead, but Indiana comes back and ties it. Britt Prince jumper secures the lead again and the Huskers call timeout with 4:26 left in the game.
Defensive stops are going to be lethal for Nebraska because Ciezki for Indiana is on a heater. Jessica Petrie gets a big block, Indiana corrals the rebounds, but turns the ball over. Petrie is assisted on a reverse layup by Prince to put Nebraska up four. CALLIN HAKE THREE! BIG BLOCK BY NISSLEY! The Huskers are up 72-65. Callin Hake has had one point this entire game and probably hit the biggest three of the game. Just under two minutes remaining as Indiana hits a three to cut the lead to four. I might actually throw up..I have a love/hate relationship with close games. Eliza Maupin is called for the foul and that will send Indiana to the charity stripe. Britt Prince extends the Nebraska lead to five, but she turns the ball over on the next possession. Indiana calls timeout with 36 seconds left. By the way, that turnover definitely should have been a foul on Indiana, but what do I know, I’m just watching from my couch.
Nebraska gets a stop on a missed three and calls timeout, 28 seconds left. Indiana is most likely going to play the fouling game, they have a couple to give, but not really enough time. After four consecutive fouls, Britt Prince heads to the line and she connects on both (76-69 Neb)
Indiana timeout. 24 seconds left.
Layup Hoosiers.
Timeout Nebraska. 20 seconds left.
Foul on Indiana. Logan Nissley heads to the line, she splits the pair, it’s a six point lead. Indiana gets two points back and then has to foul again. Jessica Petrie’s turn at the line and she also goes one for two. Petrie gets the block to end the game.
