The Chicago Bears will play their third and final preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs this Friday, August 22, at 7:20 PM CT at Arrowhead Stadium. Head Coach Ben Johnson announced that the starters will play against the Chiefs during the preseason match-up on the Up & Adams show hosted by Kay Adams.
When asked if he will be playing the starters, Johnson replied, “Yeah. Yep. We’ll go ahead and we’ll play — we’ll see how long it is. We’re going to get through a couple days here of practice,
and we’ll determine for how long, but we need to go through this.”
This comes as no surprise as Johnson hinted at playing his starters earlier this week, per Brad Biggs. While Johnson and his coaching staff try to strike a balance between getting reps in to work out the kinks during preseason and avoid any detrimental injuries before the Bears’ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings during MNF on September 8th, reps remain to be the emphasis for this team.
Bears’ starters, including Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, and Rome Odunze, will go head-to-head against the Chiefs’ starters, as Chiefs’ Head Coach Andy Reid announced Monday that he will also be playing his starters. ‘‘They’ll start it off, for sure, and then we’ll see how it goes from there,’’ Reid said.
Bears’ starters played against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, and they looked good.
