In a letter first reported by Tomahawk Nation, Florida State, Miami, Clemson and North Carolina urged House leaders to rewrite the Protect College Sports Act’s realignment provisions. The four schools want the power-conference membership cap raised from 20 to 22 and the required three-year stint as an independent for schools switching leagues scrapped:

Florida State volleyball swept NC State 3-0 on Friday and Wake Forest 3-0 on Sunday at Tully Gym to improve to 8-6 (3-1 ACC). Kyleene Filimaua joined the program’s 1,000-dig club against the Demon Deacons, the 14th Seminole to get there:
Against NC State, Filimaua led the Seminoles with a match-high 20.5 points, recording 17 kills on a .429 hitting percentage while adding three aces.
Junior setter Emma Lilo posted a match-high 30 assists and a career-high 16 digs for her third double-double of the season. She also tied her career high with two kills.
Junior opposite hitter Bailey Higgins added a career-high 12 digs, while freshman outside hitter Sofia Moss recorded 12 kills in the win.
Florida State opened the match with three straight kills to take an early 3-1 lead. NC State battled back to tie the set at 7-7 before taking a 10-7 advantage and forcing an FSU timeout. The Seminoles responded with a run of their own, tying the set at 12-12 before taking a 15-12 lead at the media timeout.
FSU continued to hold the advantage, leading 18-14 and forced an NC State timeout. The Wolfpack cut the deficit to 20-18, but the Seminoles held on through a back-and-forth finish. FSU closed the set with an ace to take the opener 26-24.
NC State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second set, but Florida State quickly answered to take a 4-3 advantage. The teams traded points before the Seminoles began to pull away. An ace from Filimaua helped FSU take a 12-9 lead and force an NC State timeout.
The Seminoles extended their lead to 15-10 following a block and continued to build momentum, taking an 18-11 advantage. Back-to-back kills pushed FSU ahead 20-13, but NC State mounted a late comeback to cut the deficit to 24-22.
The Wolfpack tied the set 26-26 after FSU reached set point. Filimaua answered with a kill to put the Seminoles back in front before closing out the set with another kill, giving FSU a 28-26 victory and a 2-0 match lead.
Florida State came out fast in the third set, taking a 7-3 lead before extending its advantage to 10-6 and forcing an NC State timeout. The Seminoles continued to control the set following the break, taking a 13-7 lead.
A kill from Moss pushed FSU ahead 15-9, and another three-point run extended the advantage to 18-9. Florida State continued to pull away, taking a 23-12 lead before closing out the match with a 25-15 third-set victory.
Against Wake Forest, Filimaua finished with nine kills and a team-high eight digs.

The Seminoles regained the lead at 18-17 following two kills and a Wake Forest attacking error. FSU closed the set on a 5-1 run to take the opener 25-20 and a 1-0 lead.
Florida State jumped out to a 4-0 lead to begin the second set. The Demon Deacons battled back to tie the set at 8-8, and the teams remained tied at 11-11 before FSU held a 15-14 advantage at the media timeout. The Seminoles scored six of the final seven points to win 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead.
The third set featured the most back-and-forth action of the match. After the teams battled to a 7-7 tie, Florida State took a 15-11 lead into the media break. Wake Forest responded with a 6-1 run to take a 17-16 lead. With the set tied at 20-20, FSU used two kills and an ace to take a 23-21 advantage before closing out the 25-23 victory and completing the sweep.

Florida State men’s tennis closed out the Bedford Cup in Orlando on Sunday, where Justin Lyons and Gabor Hornung made the doubles final before dropping a 6-4 decision to FAU’s Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera. Lyons also reached the singles quarterfinals:
The duo opened the tournament with a 7-6 (7) quarterfinal victory over FAU’s Simon Myslivec and Roman Venger. In the semifinals, Lyons and Hornung defeated UCF’s Kai-Luca Ampaw and Nicolas Oliveira 6-4 to punch their ticket to the finals. In the championship match, Lyons and Hornung faced FAU’s Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera, ultimately falling to the pair 6-4.
In singles action, Lyons advanced to the round of 16 after a hard-fought, three-set victory over UCF’s Oliveira in the round of 32. The Florida native continued his momentum later that evening, defeating FGCU’s Jonathan Baron in another three-set battle to reach the quarterfinals. Lyons’ run ultimately came to an end in the quarterfinals, where he fell to South Florida’s Verdese Guglielmo.
Elias Sumann also began his tournament run in the round of 32, falling to UCF’s Clement Lemire in a three-set match. The Austria native bounced back in the consolation bracket, receiving a second-round bye before falling to South Florida’s Stepan Mruzek in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Gabor Hornung opened singles play against FAU’s Jan Kusy, falling in his first-round matchup before continuing his tournament run in the consolation bracket. The Hungary native earned two straight victories to reach the semifinals, before ending his individual competition against James Newton of South Florida in a three-set battle.

The teams will open the tournament by playing 36 holes on Monday before finishing with 18 on Tuesday. Among the 12 teams in the field, five are either ranked or receiving votes in the GCAA Coaches’ Poll that was released on Sept. 25. FSU received votes in the latest poll.
The Seminoles, who will be competing in the tournament for the third straight season, will be paired with RV Ole Miss and Yale on Monday. Shawn Coultoff will lead off at 8:35 a.m. from the first tee, followed by Wilmer Edero at 8:45 a.m. and Nils-Levi Bock at 8:55 a.m.
Jack Whaley will start at 9:05 a.m. and Tyler Weaver, who is listed third in the PGA TOUR University rankings will begin at 9:15 a.m. Carson Brewer will be playing individually and will begin his round at 8:25 a.m. from the first hole.
