I hate when
the media is right. People have been waiting for Georgia Tech to trip up, and it finally happened. CJ Bailey had a career night, and our defense didn’t look like it could stop anything on the field. Combine that with some drops by our receivers at key opportunities and some strange tricksy play calling and we had a large upset loss on the road at night on NC State homecoming. As a GT fan who lives in the Raleigh area it’s not going to be a fun week for me.
There were some other upsets this week but it’s hard to talk about after our let down. 8-1 is still way better than where I thought we would be at this point in the season at the start of the year. It sucks to lose but you can’t worry about what happened in the past you just need to keep moving forward. The Jackets are no longer in the driver seat but they do still have a good shot at competing for the ACC and to have one last big upset to end the year. Hopefully this loss lights a fire under GT that will carry them the rest of the season. Clearly we have some weaknesses to improve on, especially on defense, but GT is still in a good position overall.
As fans this was not the result we hoped for but don’t let that kill your enthusiasm. We have 3 more games left this season so let’s make it a good one and show up where we can. 8-1 is still way better than we have been the over the past decade. Don’t let one loss ruin the season. GO JACKETS!!!

Wake Forest Demon Deacons @ #12 Virginia Cavaliers (-6.5)
Logan: Virginia can’t keep getting away with it. I do think UVA is a good team, but they just keep slipping by other teams. I feel like this is the week Virginia finally drop a game against a Wake Forest team that is looking to prove something after an embarrassing loss last week. Wake Forest should win this one.

LSU Tigers @ #4 Alabama Crimson Tide (-10.5)
Logan: This has been a big matchup in the past, but with LSU’s recent struggles with coaching and on offense in general I struggle to picture LSU keeping this game close on the road. The Tide roll in this one.

#6 Oregon Ducks (-5.5) @ Iowa Hawkeyes
Logan: The Oregon Ducks have not looked as good as they did to start the season. Both teams are coming off a bye week, so both are well rested. Iowa has a strong defense that has been causing problems for other teams. I think Iowa has a great chance to at least cover in this matchup.

Cal Bears @ #14 Louisville Cardinals (-19.5)
Logan: Louisville does very well at home but come on! -19.5 is just too massive of a spread. I don’t think Cal can win this game, but I do believe they can keep things within 3 scores.

Florida State Seminoles @ Clemson Tigers (-2.5)
Logan: Things haven’t really panned out the way either of these teams planned to start the year. Florida State at least seems to be figuring things out, Clemson is a complete mess right now. I guess I will take the ‘Noles.

Temple Owls @ Army Black Knights (-6.5)
Logan: Despite it being a blow out win I was actually very impressed with how Temple played us earlier this year. Army isn’t exactly running away with the American conference this year, I think Temple has a good shot of covering the spread in this one.

Navy Midshipmen @ # 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-25.5)
Logan: This is another game where the spread is just too massive. Navy has done really well this year, and while I don’t expect them to win this match they should be able to cover the spread.

#5 uga puppies (-7.5) @ Mississippi State Bulldogs
Logan: I’m going to keep picking uga in the hopes that it jinxes them. That said I do think they are a safe pick in this matchup despite this being a tough road matchup.

#3 Texas A&M Aggies (-7.5) @ #19 Mizzou Tigers
Logan: Texas A&M has been a dominant force, especially on defense. I think the Aggies are another lock for this week as Mizzou continues their downward slide.

#8 BYU Cougars @ #9 Texas Tech Red Raiders (-10.5)
Logan: BYU has earned their undefeated status. While I think Texas Tech is the better team I do believe BYU will keep this game closer than 10 points.
