We sort of wondered why the Charlotte Hornets traded for two point guards at the last minute, but now we know: they’re sending former Duke guard Tyus Jones to Dallas.
This will give them first of all a very solid point guard for the moment and a really good backup when fellow former Blue Devil Kyrie Irving returns from his ACL injury.
It also allows Cooper Flagg to move in and out of point responsibilities. He can certainly do it, but ideally, he’s going to help share that rather than take on more
than he should.
And Jones is a very steady, very smart presence on the court. Aside from everything else he does, he will be a solid veteran presence to help mentor Flagg, a role Irving has apparently excelled at as well.
It’s a great move for both Jones and Dallas and he’ll be fun to watch with Flagg.
