The New York Jets are about to get a splash of dazzle on defense.
D’Angelo Ponds was a full participant in practice for the first time since the start of training camp. He had been battling a calf issue, but this was the first step to the talented rookie getting closer to returning to the field.
The Jets’ historic interception drought is still alive and Ponds is certainly capable of ending it. During his three years at Indiana, Ponds totaled seven interceptions, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
Ponds missed the majority of training camp. Prior to his injury, he was expected to be a factor in the starting slot conversation.
