It wasn’t a great outcome for the Michigan Wolverines on the road, as they fell to USC by a final score of 31-13. Lost in the outcome of the game was two more true freshmen burning their redshirts this season.

If you’re looking for a freshman who had a great game, look no further than wide receiver Andrew Marsh. He’s quickly becoming a reliable target for Bryce Underwood, as he led
the team with eight catches for 138 yards and a touchdown. This followed up his four-catch, 80-yard outing in his first start last week vs Wisconsin.
Underwood had a few issues in this one — he threw an interception and also took a few sacks, including one that put the Wolverines out of field goal range. You’ve got to give him credit for hanging in there and giving it his all, but unfortunately, the results weren’t what we were hoping for. He ended the night 15-of-24 for 207 yards and two touchdowns in addition to the interception.
On the defense, cornerback Jayden Sanders was in the right place to make a play and prevent a touchdown, but USC wideout Makai Lemon was just on fire and made an incredible grab despite Sanders’ tight coverage. Sanders had two tackles on the night.
Edge rusher Nate Marshall burned his redshirt and made two tackles. Defensive back Elijah Dotson, who only saw time on special teams on Saturday, also burned his redshirt by playing in his fifth game this season. Fellow defensive back Jordan Young is now one game away from burning his redshirt after playing against USC.
The Wolverines will need to tighten things up quickly as they prepare to host the Washington Huskies next week. The Huskies are 5-1 on the season heading into the matchup in Ann Arbor.
