Looking at the Falcons first, we have some very good news as quarterback Michael Penix Jr. practiced fully on Thursday, and should be out there on Sunday afternoon. Penix was forced to leave the recent loss due to a rib injury right before overtime. The Falcons have a weakness at corner thanks to recent injuries, and CJ Henderson remains sidelined with a groin injury. Hopefully, Henderson is able to make a surprise turnaround in Friday’s practice.
Additionally, edge rusher Za’Darius Smith is practicing, although on a limited basis. Smith sustained a neck injury and concussion against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. Veteran tackle Jake Matthews continues to practice as he recovers from a groin injury.
The Bears have a pretty lengthily injury report of their own. The most notable bit of news seems to be that quarterback Caleb Williams is practicing fully as he recovers from a hamstring injury. I’d expect him to be able to suit up against the Falcons this weekend.
