With the Lions coming to town to play our Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium tomorrow afternoon, I asked the following question this past week:
What are your predictions, bold or otherwise, for the Miami Dolphins’ defense and offense in this coming Sunday’s game vs. the Detroit Lions? Who do you expect to lead the team in key categories like tackles, tackles for loss, pass breakups, interceptions, defensive touchdowns, etc., on defense, and receiving yards, touchdowns, receptions, rushing production,
and first downs, etc., on offense? What are your stat-line projections for our key playmakers this week, and/or who will be the team’s MVPs on each side of the ball?
Below are some of your thougths and predictions on tomorrow’s game against the Lions-
Flexile thinks the Lions’ real opponent this weekend will be the legendary heat and humidity of South Florida!
The Lions are a dome team. When they can’t handle the elements, the Dolphins will capitalize. This will be a beat down of epic proportions. Dolphins 42-6 and Wayne Fontes gets fired immediately after the game.
Miami7 believes the Phins D will struggle against the Lions’ offensive stars.
Gibbs is a tall task for any defense. Amon-Ra is another tall task. And they have a TE on the roster – actually a pretty good one (not that THAT matters much) in LaPorta. It all spells trouble for a defense that is lacking too much yet. The Lions haven’t been very good on the road this year to date but are too talented to NOT find success against Willie Gay, Kenneth Grant and a secondary that makes a teeter-tauter look steady. Willis & the gang ‘should’ keep it close for a half – but then our HAF fails to provide anything of substance AGAIN post halftime and we lose to Detroit walkin’ away…..30-17.
Ksphinfan has Miami in a close defensive struggle.
11- 5 dolphins in a epic battle with 2 safeties …one for each team
surfla8 has concerns about the Phins offense.
Unless our offense improves, we won’t clear the spread.
Would you like me to be more specific?
Malik, Jonah and Austin will be below average.
Jacob, Ollie, Zach and maybe even Chop will be above average.
Final score, Phins 6 – Lions 20
Robert Burstein has the Lions running away with this one.
A 7 point spread is interesting. The Lions on the road just aren’t the same team and this years Detroit team just seems a little off so far. But Detroit is still too talented to lose even in Miami.
Goff will be solid, Gibbs will have a huge game, Our DEF won’t be able to slow them down for 60 mins. Willis and our OFF just aren’t talented enough, they’ll move the ball some, make an occasional big play, but in the end this game should be a route.
Mia 18 – 33 Det
Molly Polly II is another who thinks that line is way too low.
Surprisingly the spread is only 7. Dan Campbell should be our HC! The way our defense is playing this could get ugly. Just maybe Mother Nature’s heat lends a hand🤔
Detroit is a solid team, Campbell doesn’t hold a grudge. Lions win easily 38-20.
leightonwilliams517 is focused on time of possession, and I agree; keeping the other team’s offense off the field is a good start.
Alrighty so, I’m looking at TOP (time of possession) as the biggest factor of all – and also the zone coverage is letting the other WRs to get open rather easily. It’s true there’s a risk either way (no matter what coverage is utilized) as these are rookie CBs-but at least attempt to disrupt the timing of the routes to allow the pass rush to get home.
USMCFinPhreak wanted to pick the Dolphins; they really, really did.
Could be…Might be…Will be ugly. 30-10 Detroit.
phinette believes the Lions will remind us this team isn’t quite ready to compete with the big boys yet.
Lions offense will dominate. This one could get ugly early. Lions 35-13
CluelessNFLfan doesn’t see a blowout, just an offense that the Phins just can’t keep up with.
Detroit offense puts up 31 points and our offense can’t keep up with that. Kitties win 31-24.
DolphinsKings1 has Malik in a total collapse as the Lions destroy the Phins.
48 Lions
14 Dolphins
Malik 4 Ints 2 Fumbles pulled in 4th Quarter.
Ollie gets 90 on 24 carries and a TD.
Goff 3 TD’s
St. Brown 3 TD’s
2 pick sixes
This one won’t be close at all. I want the Willis experiment to end. He is not it. Move on. If you can get a trade go for it. Or ride McCord and start evaluating.
JUK has the Phins offense looking better but with similar results.
I doubt we win this but I could see a decent day for the offense. I’ll say 34-24 lions
It seems as if the overwhelming belief is that our Dolphins have zero chance against the Lions tomorrow. That’s probably correct, but I hope it’s one of those days when the humidity just destroys the team that practices in a nice, cool environment. As with all of these posts, thank you to everyone who takes the time to answer our question of the day. Please join us tomorrow afternoon for our live game thread.
