Happy Sunday Husky fans. With no official visitors on campus this weekend and mostly 2027 recruits on campus (locally), today I wanted to take a look at how a couple of the Husky commits in the 2026 class are faring in their senior seasons.
4 star running back Brian Bonner from Valencia HS, CA is off to a strong start through 2 games. So far this year Bonner has carried the rock 34 times for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has also had 5 receptions for 45 yards, and has showcased that he can be a 3 down back in college
down the road. The Huskies pulled of a monster win landing Bonner, and when you see some of his highlights you can see how fast and shifty he is with his ability to make defenders miss in space. I would expect Bonner to come in and at minimum help out on special teams, specifically KO return next season (and possibly push for a backup running back role).
4 star safety Gavin Day from Faith Lutheran HS, NV has already had a strong showing to his senior year. In his first game of the year he had a pick 6 from 98 yards, and through 3 games he has had 17 total tackles. The Huskies are set to lose 2 safeties after this year to graduation and Day should compete for a backup role next year and he will likely be used in the same role as Alex McLaughlin is this season. Listed at 6’3” and around 190 pounds, Husky fans should be excited to see him next year on Montlake.
3 star wide receiver Blaise LaVista is picking up where he left off last season and showcasing his ability to create big plays. Last season LaVista lead the state of Illinois in receiving and he is well on his way this season (I don’t have stats for his most recent game, but he did catch a 49 yard touchdown). In his first game of the season he had 6 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. LaVista might not blow scouts away with his speed but he has the ability to get separation and make plays when the ball is in the air.
We will continue to update everyone with updates on how Husky commits are doing as their senior seasons’ progress. The next home game against Ohio State should have a packed visitor list and when I get names of recruits who have visited I will make sure to update this space here. As always follow me @asieverkropp.
