Bayern Munich is still riding on the highs of their recent triumph in the form of a Franz Beckenbauer Supercup win over current DFB-Pokal holders VfB Stuttgart. Manuel Neuer was the Man of the Match, producing a superb goalkeeping display to make sure Stuttgart got (almost) nothing from their efforts.
There was one player from the losing side that caught the attention of the “GOATkeeper”, erstwhile Bayern transfer target Nick Woltemade. “He’s a good player. He’s called ‘Woltemessi’ for a reason”,
Neuer quipped (Bild as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). He’s good on the ball and unpredictable”. Neuer limited the damage that Woltemade and his attacking crew could inflict.
Given that Stuttgart have shut the door for a summer transfer for the lanky German striker, the Bavarians will now look for alternatives to strengthen their attack, especially after the departure of Kingsley Coman to Al-Nassr. The current target is Chelsea FC and former RB Leipzig player Christopher Nkunku.
