Max Eberl is sounding increasingly confident that Harry Kane will remain at Bayern Munich beyond his current contract, but the club’s sporting director is making it clear that there is still work to be done.
Asked about the ongoing contract talks with Kane, Eberl offered an optimistic assessment while stressing that negotiations, much like football matches, have to take place before anything can be finalized.
“Just as matches have to be played first, conversations have to take place. Both sides want
it, and then it will work out. I am confident,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That confidence is significant considering Kane’s importance to Bayern Munich. Since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur, the England captain has established himself as the focal point of the attack and one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe. His performances have made him a cornerstone of Bayern Munich’s plans under Vincent Kompany.
The key phrase from Eberl may be “both sides want it.” That suggests Bayern Munich and Kane are aligned on the idea of continuing their relationship, leaving the financial and contractual details as the primary issues to resolve.
Kane has already spoken positively about life in Munich, and Bayern Munich have made no secret of their desire to keep him.
For now, there is no agreement to announce, but Eberl’s message is clear — the intention is there, the confidence is there, and Bayern Munich believe a new deal can eventually be reached.
